(1) Hardware threats
It includes physical damage to network components such as servers, routers, hubs, etc.
In preventing these threats,
The room must be secured and having only limited access to authorised people.
The room must not be accessible by a hole in a wall, a window, or any other kinds of forced entry
except the secured access point.
(2) Environmental threats
It includes high and low temperatures, moisture, electrostatic and magnetic interferences.
In preventing these threats, Supply the room with temperature and humidity control systems
Remove any sources of electrostatic and magnectic intereference in the room such as
electromagnets.
(3) Electrical threats
It includes power outage, voltage spikes, etc.
In preventing these threats,
Install a backup generator to supply electricity should a power outage occur
Keeping check on power-related parameters at the power supply and device levels
(4) Maintenance threats
It includes not having a backup of systems, not labelling components, poor cabling, lacking of
spare parts, sabotage.
In preventing these threats,
Clearly label all equipment and wires/cables
Keeping spare parts of important systems such as servers
Logging off all consoles when leaving a station

Hi. Your post on common threats to router and switch physical and mitigation is well-written. You have categorised the threats in 4 different types of threats and you have elaborate on them further. You also had include the ways on how to mitigate the threats. Its simple to understand and not long winded. Thanks Haikal Tan xD
